Elevator modernization

Partial modernization typically replaces the controller, door operator, or cabin; rails, shaft, and counterweight stay. Fuller upgrades add drive motor (sometimes gearless conversion), ropes, safety systems, and cabin finishes. Traction and hydraulic elevators follow different technical paths — power unit and jack on hydraulic are assessed separately.

Full replacement makes sense when the shaft or rails are non-standard and structural rework costs more than upgrading. In most Tehran and Karaj residential and commercial buildings, modernization on the existing shaft often costs 40–60% less than new installation — with updated safety and appearance.
